In the Beginning

Our History

In November of 1983 Children & Teens Emergicenter in Schaumburg, Illinois was the first walk in treatment center exclusively for children, nationally . The center was acclaimed in Medicenter magazine and was a featured news item on local television. Within a year, the treatment center was converted to the general practice of pediatrics because of popular demand by the repeat visitors. Thus the name was changed to Children & Teens Medical Center.

Advocating for your children since 1983.

Headquartered in Schaumburg with satellite offices in Lake Barrington, Algonquin and Lake in the Hills, Children & Teens Medical Center is moving more and more into technology represented in the patient portal, including pre-check-in and pay outstanding balances through your child's portal account.  Our newer technology represents faster registration on Kiosks, and text messaging to confirm and cancel/reschedule appointments. As our Pediatricians may move forward in technology we still stand firm in our core values - our children and their parents come first.

We follow Bright Futures Best Practices by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). As a group practice amongst four small offices, our physicians will not only protect what you created, but we’ll also help your children stay well and thrive in the world. We bring extensive experience and professionalism to every child and illness and customize our support to your child's individual needs and concerns.

Children & Teens Medical Center has been practicing for over three decades.  We’re on the pulse of modern technology and as a Patient Centered Medical Home, we have monitored this evolution to transform into our own approaches—all to give you exceptional care and service that will last from birth through your child's teenage years.

Get in touch with us to set up an appointment at anyone of our four locations.

Patient-Centered Medical Home

(PCMH)

RECERTIFIED: 07/01/2019 THROUGH 08/01/2020.

Welcome Home.

Our Patient-Centered Medical Home is an innovative approach to providing complete health care to our children and teens within our practice setting.

Medical Homes Make a Difference

Our Patient-Centered Medical Home tailors health care needs while using evidence based guidelines.  We don't just treat illness-we work with you to achieve and maintain wellness.  We're also here to coordinate and provide optimal access to the care you need, when you need it-whether through an in-person visit or on line via our patient portal.

Coordinated Care

Your health care team will coordinate your care with the other elements of the health system.  This includes subspecialty care, hospitals, home health, and any public or private community services that may benefit your children.

If your child needs to see a specialist or have a test, such as imaging, lab work or therapy, we will coordinate services and follow-up with timely and thorough communication.

Communication is Key

You can easily reach your care team for anything you need regarding your care, either by calling our offices directly or 24/7 at 847-895-2901 or online through our patient health portal from the comfort of your home.

Our Team Starts With You

Parent's you are an active participant in your child's health care team. Through shared decision making, we will achieve optimal health and wellness for your children.  Your role on the team includes some of the following:

  • Bring concerns and questions regarding your child's health to discuss with your care team.

  • Provide a list of all the medications, including vitamins and over the counter items you buy in the store for your children.

  • Call us before going to the Emergency Room (ER) or let us know as soon as possible that you have been to the ER or urgent care facility.

When your children go elsewhere for their care, such as the dentist or orthodontist or are seen out of town, please request that your care information be sent to our office.

What is a patient-centered medical home? It is not a building, a hospital or a home.  It's the way we give care.  It is a team-based approach to your child's healthcare, led by your child's pediatrician.  It is care that centers around your children and their healthcare needs and goals.  It focuses on providing them the right care,  at the right time, at the right place.

Thank you for choosing Children & Teens Medical Center as your children's Medical Home.
